Jorney to Excellence!

Adventist education is present in more than 150 countries, represented by 8,632 institutions from early childhood education to higher education, with a teaching staff of 77,234 teachers committed to the education of approximately 2 million students.

Since 1853, when Martha Byington opened the first school. Adventist education has sought to teach not only the rudiments of “reading, writing and arithmetic”, the purpose of such education is to send out into the world young people with a complete and balanced preparation in the physical, spiritual, intellectual and social dimensions.

Adventist Education in India

In 1896, Adventist Education opened their first school in India on 14 Bow Bazaar Street in the bustling city of Calcutta (now Kolkata). Georgia A. Burrus and Martha May Taylor, two young Americans, administered the school where there were seventy girls in the first year.

Over 123 years have passed since then and Adventist education to the people of India has
certainly come a long way. Statistics are evidential. At present, there are 144 schools (primary, high school, and secondary schools), 8 colleges, and one university.

The Adventist Education chain in Northern India is composed of 23 Mattison Educational Trust-owned schools and 21 schools affiliated to ICSE Board, New Delhi, and managed by Northern India Union of SDA. In 2019, the total enrollment was about 14,000 students.
